In 2011 Kriti had completed its first batch of tailoring training and the succesul trainees wanted some work. Thus Kriti started production activities with a group of 7 enthusiastic ladies in a small room inside the slum. We started by making patchwork quilts and bags by upcycling fabric end bits given to us by Suraiyya’ji at the house of Kalamkari. Today there are over 60 women working across the different livelihood activities and earning regular income through their work.
Bags by kriti is our brand for a wide range of beautiful, well stitched and functional bags and accessories.
This is another range within bagsbykriti - jute / canvas / cloth based products that are produced to order for customers.
Kriti garments are sold under the brand name Kriti Kala. The collections combine the traditional textiles of India with modern designs to create clothes that are comfortable, ethnic and affordable.
Kriti has trained over 50 artisans on hand embroidery - the artisans are comfortable with kaantha work, applique work and banjara embroidery motifs including application of mirrors.
The embroidery work is done on Kriti Kala garments and also for other brands who require embroidery work on their home linen or garment product range.
